Torch Enameling Made Easy: The Enameling Station Story

I want to share with you why I made the “Enameling Station”.

I was drawn to enameling; I had great ideas, but I didn’t know anyone who could teach me how to use a torch, and I hadn’t taken an enameling course. I understood the physics and knew that I should heat from underneath the copper, but it was a challenge for many reasons.

To begin, I needed something (or someone) to hold the copper part by its edges so I could access the back with the torch without disturbing and ruining the designs on the front.

I began by improvising and resting the copper on two stones. It may sound primitive, and while it wasn’t easy, it did the job. I placed the copper piece on the stones and heated the copper, allowing the enamel powder to fuse.

However, I had to go through the same amount of preparation for every piece. It would take me ages to balance the copper parts on the stones. Only the edges could touch the stones, and that takes time. Even more distressing was the need to repeat the process for each design, and when I had two parts, such as earrings, I never succeeded in making them identical.

That’s when I came up with the idea of an enameling station. I needed my enameling station to be mobile and stable to spin it and add more copper parts. (My first design held four parts, and then I created the octet trivet that can hold eight parts). The station allows me to enamel multiple parts simultaneously with no effort.

The station’s design allows me to work without moving the hand I use to hold the torch; with my station Instead of juggling the piece and the torch, the parts come to the torch, the hand does not get tired, it saves time and produces much better results without the tension and wasted time. The results are much improved with an uncomplicated, practical, and comfortable process.

Since then, thousands of enamel artists have already bought my “Enameling Station,” and they have told me that it is a real game-changer for them in their work, just as it was, and is, for me. So there you have it, the journey from struggling with makeshift setups to revolutionizing torch enameling with the Enameling Station. It’s been quite a ride, and I’m thrilled to see how it’s transformed the enameling process for artists everywhere.
